Matts,
Upon the occasion of reading a Matt Smith article on ‘cars in the Park’ in which he began by not capitalizing the word, ‘city’ when referring to San Francisco.
Man has his own ideas about how to use language to convey.
But, that’s writing about writing about writing which can be a heavy lift if you’re not Noam Chomsky or t.s. eliot.
To the substance of your story, Matt Smith, you realize that it is describing a major change in how particular mayors feel about the parks don’t you?
When Newsom was in charge and kissing Wilsey’s ass and Ginsberg was his Chief of Staff, he was against closing the park to cars and was even transferred over to Rec and Park to do Dede’s bidding.
Now, it’s the guy whose agency closed the Bontanical Gardens and put up fences and a staffed collection box who has his nose up the Pacific Heights buttocks.
So to speak.
Shit, let’s put this on my site.
No one reads it anyway.
lol
So, Matt Smith, were you aware of all of the personal park politics that go back to when there was a race track there and the Swells had a polo field that no one played soccer on … ?
How can anyone write about Golden Gate Park and banning cars and not mention the name, Dede Wilsey?
I cannot get the images of her described in her stepson’s book out of my mind and neither can anyone who read it.
Didn’t I give you my copy, Matt ??
Go Niners !
