Lurie should close it to thru traffic and equip it with a permanent concrete based trash receptacle midway that is emptied daily and a quality Porta Potty rig for the tourists and artists. A few benches would help too. The dynamic/vibe/energy there is stronger than any place in San Francisco for this old hippie. The murals are mostly Lefty Political pleas and threats which the cops from Mission station at the Valencia end smear with horse shit and the gangs on the Mission street end supply with drug runners on bicycles who occasionally kill bystanders (2 the year I was there). I cleaned the alley daily for a year (met Mike Tyson there) and had my life threatened by both groups. Bought 13 broken cover bags of concrete over that time for $2 each and hand dollied them from Discount Builders a half mile away up Mission and used them to fill all of the urine soaked potholes from one end to the other. Place is the worst trash dump in the Mission and gotta be the source of lots of ‘filthy San Francisco’ stories that foreign visitors spread back home. While Lurie’s attempts to tame 16th and Mission have been an abject failure, just a few bucks beautifying Clarion and putting it on a regular trash route would give him a permanent legacy in the Mission. go Niners !! h. 0 0 votes. Love San Franciscosays:April 19, 2026, 3:33 pm at 3:33 pmI bought one of his pieces (in the tree series) at what is now a gym vs art gallery on Valencia St. I miss that art gallery, I used to stop in and wander (and spend money sometimes) before going home after having dinner or drinks on the street often.
