DPW and Clinton Park at the Friends school and me and Skippy
Campers,
This is gonna be a this and that cause I haven’t done one in awhile.
First, I’m responding to a story posted a couple of hours ago on KTVU in which the station does a visually great presentation via video of the horrible conditions that have existed across the street from where the Mayor’s kids go to school since way before when they started going there but the amazing thing to me is that it did not improve after his kids started going there.
I live on the next corner over the laundry at 14th and Mission with my faithful canine companion, Skippy Brown who was born looking dirty and can regain the look within hours after a bath.
We’re what I’m coming to call ‘Neighborhood Groundskeepers’ …
Yeah, that works.
We work as City registered Volunteer Trash Pickers and we recently redrew our Route to include the west side of Valencia at Clinton Park all the way to Duboce and up Duboce all the way to Guerrero and back South on Guerrero’s east side to 14th Street and now that KTVU has featured it on their friday night edition on May 15th maybe we’ll get some action of 86’ing the trash can at Clinton Park and Valencia cause it does nothing but cause trouble like there’s a guy who craps across from it on the sidewalk and his stool is like glue if you know what I mean but you don’t do you ?
Hmmmm, back to familiar style.
So, speaking of trying to get this trash can (people put furniture there overnight for the school kids to navigate around plus stepping over the glue stool ..
Speaking of that, did anyone else notice that the City removed both trash cans from in front of and alongside Manny’s place at 16th and Valencia ?
Hey, I’ve seen Yekutiel’s Sunday volunteer crews reach 100 and leave a mountain of trash next to that 16th street receptical.
That means that an intersection that had once had 6 or 7 cans serviced by Recology now has one ?
Hey, it looks great and there was almost no trash visible.
Two days now.
It’s on my afternoon walk route so I’ll keep an eye on it.
About moving our route north on Valencia on up past Brosnan and Clinton Park what we did was work about 8 hours on a hot weekend digging out all of the weeds at the curb and at the seams of the sidewalks in front of the Friends school which is a wonderful place whose faculty and parents always heap praise on Skippy and I for our Volunteer work (you can volunteer too, you know) …
Altho, after your first supplies from DPW for your work begin to run out you’re gonna find that it is the new Policy of DPW to ignore your repeated requests for supplies or meetings and the like.
My dog and I soldier on cause we don’t need no stinkin’ badge !
The writing like this helps too.
When the City wouldn’t fill pot holes in Clarion Alley, a City department head who reads my work paid for bags of concrete
