Still a nice guy but wrong on about everything, He thinks he cleaned up 16th and Mission and he’s wrong cause it is worse than ever because the only change he hath wrought that remains is some guys from a private security outfit recruited from ex cons. Put bluntly, the intersection of 16th and Mission is now peopled by more rough looking middle aged black men which is not good for business. He needs to bring back the legal vendors and return Feinstein’s Cop Box along with a stage and some music. The cops still don’t do permanent Foot Patrols which would force them to get to know the voters again and he gave them a big raise for becoming even more cold and distant. My concern is that his reforms are designed to take away more of the power of the people to bring about reforms which may or may not prove to be of value and give himself more power to make reforms which are of a negative and revenge mode. The writers of this Billionaire set of ballot measures (I’m guessing led by Jim Sutton) also made a special effort to make them more permanent by taking away the mayors’ power to put measures on the ballot by themselves which a future Progressive mayor could use to reverse the Lurie reforms and instead make them go back to the voters over and over again which would take four times the clout. You understand all that ? Me either and I wrote it. Go Niners !! h.
