Mission Local puts $10,000 Pay Wall on coverage of Supe candidates

Predictable,
The richer you get the less democratic you get.
The older people get the more conservative they get.
I don’t know if these things are somehow related somewhere but yesterday I had to go to the bank and get a bank statement to take to DMV as a part of a package to get a Real ID for clearance to fly on an airplane and today I read in Mission Local that they won’t interview me using the brilliant format you used in the last D-9 contest I entered unless I have ten grand in the bank and DPW sent me my half dozen resupply trash pickers and lists them as: ‘long term tool loan’ … $$$
Fortunately, you won’t be able to keep me off most stages in future contests.
There’s actually a law that says that any venue or group that get’s any kind of government support is hosting a political event must include ALL legal candidates.
You know, I’ve run in a half dozen of these things collecting material for my stories and most of the time candidates agree to stick together even without such a law.
Only 3 candidates I can recall who broke ranks were Ross Mirkarimi, Jane Kim and Jackie Fielder who all won their races.
In D-5 in 2003 there were 22 candidates and every Forum was a Lightning Round of one minute rants which believe it or not proved to be very popular with the audiences.
“Well, wadda yuh gonna dooo ?”
“Money talks and bullshit walks.”
